The SIGHT Program

In our capacity as one of the most accomplished compliance advice consultancies in the United Kingdom, we are thrilled to be working with the University of Portsmouth on this project. Managing Medical Devices, Cybersecurity, and GDPR for SIGHT SMEs will be the primary emphasis of our training. In order to assist small businesses to become more compliant, safeguard their data, and avoid significant cybersecurity challenges and threats, it is something we are quite passionate about.

SIGHT is an acronym that means for Supporting Innovation and Growth in Healthcare Technologies, and it is a programme that was initiated by the University of Portsmouth with the goal of increasing the competitiveness of SMEs in the UK healthcare and medical technology industries. In essence, it is a programme that has been designed with the goal of assisting small firms as they attempt to navigate this difficult and competitive industry.

European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) has contributed £1.7 million to the SIGHT initiative, which is partially supported by the European Union. This award will assist the programme in delivering a variety of assistance packages and ideas to assist organisations in becoming more aware of the major issues affecting their area of business. There will be specific difficulties when it comes to bringing products to market. Small firms will gain an understanding of how to address these challenges by participating in the SIGHT Program.

Businesses who become members of the SIGHT programme benefit from three stages of support: initial, intermediate, and advanced.

Stage one consists of identifying and assisting with growth opportunities.

The purpose of this initial step is to engage with experts who can provide advise on a wide range of topics pertaining to the healthcare industry in general. As a result, a webinar series will be launched to connect organisations with these specialists – and that is where JVR Consultancy comes in.
Of course, other specialists will provide their own webinars and content for member SMEs, covering a variety of important themes such as intellectual property protection and exploitation, providing to the NHS, identifying overseas business prospects, and marketing.

Stage Two – Collaboration with those who have knowledge and experience

During the second stage of the programme, participants will have the opportunity to interact with other firms and individuals who have expertise and experience in the healthcare industry. The direct access to clinicians, patient groups, and academics allows enterprises to uncover prospects for new product/service development, among other things.

The primary goal of this stage is to guarantee that SIGHT SMEs are able to produce goods that serve a true purpose and meet a genuine demand in the community. It also provides businesses with an opportunity to expand and flourish as a result of the programme, as they discover what types of services and products are worth producing and which are not.

Stage Three – Providing assistance in the process of commercialization

The last stage focuses on the establishment of a smaller number of enterprises that will assist them in commercialising their innovations in preparation for their eventual deployment.

The SIGHT Grant Award Program
Businesses that advance to Stage Three may be eligible to compete for a grant award from the SIGHT Grant Award Scheme. This is intended to provide financial assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) during their company development. There is a 25 percent intervention rate for company development costs, with a maximum payment of £25,000 available to applicants.

The good news is that this grant can be awarded to a variety of different businesses on many occasions. Applicants can submit applications at any time, and members are evaluated on a monthly basis to determine who is most deserving of financial assistance. The grant can be used to cover a variety of important expenses, such as:

• Consultancy fees for intellectual property protection and CE marketing
• Trials in the clinic and in the general public
• Marketing services are provided.
